Configuring the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 NIC in the Intel NUC5i7RYH Mini PC with CentOS 7 by using nmcli

I understand that the RPM file iwl7265-firmware-22.0.7.0-36.el7.noarch which provides the Intel microcode release version 9 on the AC-7265 NIC which comes with the Intel NUC5i7RYH, does not work with 5Ghz reception, so just use 2.4Ghz instead until it’s fixed. I will confirm this when the update has been released or you can experiment by using the older microcode release.

  • iwlwifi-7265-8.ucode (2.4Ghz and 5GHz working)
  • iwlwifi-7265-9.ucode (2.4Ghz working, but no 5GHz reception).
  • Here’s how I got my NIC working. I would like to hear if this helped you to configure yours.

    yum install iwl7265-firmware NetworkManager-wifi
nmcli con add type wifi con-name wlp2s0 ifname wlp2s0 ssid MYSSID-2G
    nmcli con modify wlp2s0 wifi-sec.key-mgmt wpa-psk
nmcli con modify wlp2s0 wifi-sec.psk MYPASSWORD
nmcli con modify wlp2s0 ipv4.method auto
    systemctl restart NetworkManager.service
    journalctl -r -u NetworkManager.service
    # Check these files have been created :
    # /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-wlp2s0
    # /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/keys-wlp2s0
    nmcli con up wlp2s0
