I decided to run “franco kernel” on my Nexus 4, as it’s more power efficient (so longer battery life) and has better performance. It has many features [kernel auto-download, kernel tweaks, an interface to change CPU clocks and governor], goto the Play link below to read up on the features.
1. This is the easy method to get setup :
a) Download and install Nexus Root Toolkit
b) Backup. I’ll say that again, backup.
c) Unlock your device, this will wipe everything.
d) root the device and select “custom recovery”.
Else use adb and do this manually.
2.Purchase and install Franco’s kernel from Google Play.
3.Take a fresh backup.
Easy. It’s too early to post any real-world stats on battery life but I can say that the UI is visually more responsive.
